March 19, 2010 – Signature Healthcare has begun to receive H1N1 vaccine from the state for those patients at high risk.  Please call your physician's office to find out if you are one of these patients (typically those who are pregnant or have asthma, diabetes or kidney problems).  Stay tuned for more information as we receive more vaccine.

Preparing for the Flu season in our region, Signature Healthcare’s Infection Control Department has set up a dedicated phone number which you can call to get information on the virus, in addition to daily updates on vaccine availability: (508) 941-7968.  You may also leave a message if you don’t hear the answer to your specific question.

Symptoms are similar whether you have seasonal or H1N1 flu.

PREVENT THE SPREAD OF FLU:
Seasonal flu and H1N1 flu are spread person to person through the coughs and sneezes of someone who is already sick with the flu or by touching something with the flu virus on it and then touching your mouth or nose.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow
- Wash your hands often with either soap and water or use hand sanitizer
- Get the flu shot
