FAQ

What happens if I get sick on the weekend or holiday?
BGPMA employs an answering service 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week. Each clinical department operates an on-call coverage system to ensure that a physician is always available to address any healthcare needs that may arise. Our primary care physicians at BGPMA’s 110 Liberty St. location provide Urgent Care Services on all weekends and holidays. This service is not meant to be an emergency room, therefore you should seek treatment for critical care at your nearest ER.

How do I select a primary care physician (PCP)?
BGPMA encourages all patients to choose a primary care physician to provide personalized care as well as authorize and arrange specialized care if needed. Our Patient Services Department can help you make your PCP selection. To contact us, please call 508-894-0403

How do I get a referral?
As your insurance plan may require a referral for specialized care, you should ask your PCP which specialists are in his or her referral circle. To contact our Referral Department, please call 508-894-0400. We would be glad to assist you in the referral process.

What insurance plans are accepted?
BGPMA’s physicians are enrolled in most health plans including Medicare, Secure Horizons, BC/BS of Mass, Harvard Pilgrim, Mass Health, Neighborhood Health Plan, Tufts, Cigna, and HealthCare Value Management (HCVM). Please call our Patient Service Department at 508-894-0403 if you have questions.

What are the hours for Pediatric services?
Regular Pediatric office hours are Monday- Friday, 8:00a.m- 5:00p.m. The Pediatric Urgent Care Service is available by appointment on weekends and holidays.

How do I change my primary care physician?
At BGPMA, we want our patients to be completely satisfied with their care. If you desire to change your primary care physician, simply call our Patient Services Department at 508-894-0304. We will be happy to assist you in selecting a new PCP.

Do you have services for the disabled?

We will make every reasonable attempt to accommodate any special needs you may have. Please contact our Patient Relations Representative at 508-894-0400.

What is the difference between a Family Practice physician and an Internal Medicine physician?

Family practitioners care for patients of all ages, focusing on providing care to all members of the same family. Internal Medicine physicians provide care to adults over the age of 18. Both physicians will serve as your primary care physician to provide direct, comprehensive care as well as authorize specialty care if necessary.
